Description
Offered here is a documented 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 SportsRoof, finished in its factory color combination of Candyapple Red over a red Mach 1 interior. Accompanied by a Marti Report, this genuine S-Code Mach 1 was built at Ford's San Jose, California assembly plant on January 23, 1969, and delivered new through Mullins Ford in Muscle Shoals, Alabama on February 15, 1969.
According to the Marti Report, this Mach 1 was originally equipped with a 390ci 4-barrel V8, wide-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, and 3.00:1 rear axle ratio. Ford records show that just 3,891 Mach 1s were produced with this engine and transmission combination during the 1969 model year. Factory options include SelectAire air conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, AM/FM stereo radio, tinted glass, trim variation, and F70x14 Wide Oval belted white sidewall tires.
While the original 390ci engine and 4-speed transmission are no longer present, the car is now powered by a desirable 351ci Cleveland 4V V8 backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. The factory 3.00:1 rear axle remains in place, providing comfortable highway cruising and complementing the car's grand-touring character.
Under current ownership, the Mustang has benefited from extensive upgrades and refurbishment work focused on improving drivability, comfort, and reliability. A Fatman Fabrications front suspension system with rack-and-pinion steering has been installed, significantly enhancing steering response and road manners. Additional mechanical improvements include Wilwood front disc brakes, new rear leaf springs, a Gen II air conditioning system, and an auxiliary electric cooling fan mounted ahead of the radiator.
The exterior has been further refreshed with a new front valance, new rear bumper, and new fuel cap. The car rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Continental tires, giving it a purposeful stance while improving handling and ride quality.
Inside, the cabin has been updated with new seat upholstery, new door panels, and a new headliner. The original carpeting was removed, professionally cleaned, and reinstalled, while a tilt steering column adds comfort and convenience for drivers of varying heights.
Combining the pedigree of a documented S-Code Mach 1 with the performance of a 351 Cleveland 4V and numerous thoughtfully selected upgrades, this Mustang offers the ideal blend of classic muscle car styling and modern drivability. Whether destined for weekend cruising, local shows, or extended road trips, it presents an opportunity to own one of Ford's most iconic muscle cars with documented history tracing back to its original sale in North Alabama more than five decades ago.
The sale includes the original A/C system, as well as the original AM/FM radio.
